Wine of the Month

Goaty Hill Riesling 2008 as reveiwed by Toni Paterson MW.

If you like wines with assertiveness and strength of character then I urge you to try this fine Tasmanian Riesling. It has unmistakable varietal aromas of lime juice and gunflint with a background of gorgeous minerality.
The palate is intense with its very high acidity but this supports and enhances the citrusy flavours. The lime flavours are focussed and have great persistence - urging you to take another sip.
This wine would make a fabulous accompaniment to oysters. But I would also like to see it served with something cheesy. Mini-arancini with provolone, pancetta and chives would be a marvellous match.
